How to Know If a Guy Likes You: 7 Signs

Regardless of your gender, trying to figure out if someone is into you is complicated. If they’re laughing a lot, are they flirting? If they’re asking to spend more time with you, are they trying to ask you for a date? So many questions, and seemingly so few answers. But don’t stress it. If you’re spending time with a guy and struggling to get a read, here are a few signs to look for.

#1. Look for open body language.

If someone is interested in you, they’re more likely to be open towards you. They want to get to know you and spend time with you. Look for signs of open body language. They’ll lean towards you and their arms will be uncrossed. Their legs, on the other hand, might cross. Both guys and girls cross their legs if they’re attracted to someone. Their lower body will also be facing towards you. People tend to subconsciously point their lower body in the direction of what they want most in the room.

#2. Listen out for who he talks about

When a guy is interested in a particular girl, he worries about whether or not he’s going to give that girl the impression that he’s not single. He’s less likely to talk about other girls, even if he’s just friends with them, because he doesn’t want you to think that he’s already got a girlfriend. If he does talk about another girl, he’s more likely to emphasize that she’s his friend.

#3. Look where he’s looking

Is he looking at you while you’re having a conversation, or are his eyes drifting around? Everyone gets a little distracted sometimes, but if the majority of the time his eyes are on you, it’s because he likes looking at you more than anything else in the room!

#4. He’s making regular eye contact

Eye contact is a strange thing. We’re all a little scared of it. After all, the eyes truly are the windows to the soul. There are different levels of eye contact that tell us whether attraction is happening. Body language studies say that someone who breaks eye contact with you by looking down is attracted to you. If they break eye contact by looking to the side, they’re not interested.

Also, check out how long they are looking at you for. If he’s looking at you for more than a glance, especially if he has other distractions like his smartphone, he likely doesn’t realize just how long he’s looking at you for and he’s definitely interested.

#5. He doesn’t care about distractions, especially ones we’re used to

Look, we all live on our phones. As much as we hate to admit it, we spend a lot of time on those little machines. And we even tend to use them when we’re around friends or out in public. If he doesn’t even have his phone out anywhere within reach when you’re hanging out together, it means that he doesn’t want any distraction when spending time with you.

#6. He remembers things, even the small details

You talked about your interest in learning French once and he brought it up weeks or months later. He remembered one conversation that you had. Not only does that show he was listening, but it also means that it was important enough to him for him to keep that in his memory. Recalling that small fact means that you and what you say are important to him.

#7. You know his friends and they know you.

If he introduced you to a friend and they already knew you by name, it’s a pretty good sign that he’s interested. He wouldn’t talk about you with his friends if you didn’t mean anything to him more than a friend. If they remember your name, he’s talked about you more than once. You’ve definitely been on his mind if he’s been bringing you up repeatedly.

More than anything else, follow your gut. If someone is interested, you probably already know so don’t overthink it. The only real way to know if someone wants to explore a relationship with you is by asking. So, if you want to pursue a relationship too, don’t over-analyze or talk yourself out of it by trying to become a body language expert. Just ask.
